Pre-natal Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care for the pregnant woman corrects the vertebral misalignments and relieves pressure on the nervous system.   Reestablishing the natural position of the joints and ensuring the proper alignment of the pelvis is important to allow the healthy development of the fetus and will also facilitate a quicker, easier delivery.

Comfort for the Pregnant Woman
We have special pillows that give the pregnant woman that much desired ability to lie on her stomach safely during the adjustment.

Why chiropractic for my child?

Children are as susceptible to trauma in their spines from various activities and events. These microtraumas can subluxate the vertebrae of the spine, placing pressure on their spinal nerves and therefore decreasing their bodies' ability to function normally. Although symptoms, such as pain and malfunction may not show up for years, injury to their vital nervous system can have a lifetime of damaging effects.

When should I bring my child in for chiropractic care?

Children should be checked right after birth because of the potential damaging effects of the birth process. Even the most natural births are somewhat traumatic to the infant and may have "hidden damage". Studies show that many children who experience symptoms of colic, ear-infections and asthma have spinal subluxations impairing their nervous system function.

For infants, we recommend that you do not delay a check-up if they are colicky, constipated, having trouble sleeping, tugging on ears, or just moody.  When your baby begins to creep and crawl, we want to check every few months to make sure the spine is maintaining position during all the ups and downs of learning to walk.  For your toddler, the above rules apply, as well as after an injury.

Parents who choose chiropractic care commonly say that their children are better behaved and do not get sick very often.  We also have had amazing results with patients who have been diagnosed with learning difficulties and ADD/ADHD.

Does Chiropractic Hurt?

Chiropractors specializing in children use very specific, gentle techniques to care for children. On the very young, the adjustment is as light as a finger touch. Both doctors in our office are members of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and have taken post-graduate classes on specific techniques for pregnant mothers, infants and children to enhance their skills in this field.

Play Area
Even if you are not ready to have your child adjusted, we welcome your children in our office and we have a little play area to keep them busy while you receive your treatment.
